New Delhi will welcome global tourism leaders, opening avenues for industry networking, destination partnerships and international business collaborations.

India will host the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit 2027, bringing international tourism leaders, government representatives and business executives to New Delhi. Announced at the conclusion of the 26th WTTC Global Summit in Malta, the decision follows a competitive selection process involving 21 destinations.

For travel agents, tour operators and destination management companies (DMCs), the summit presents an opportunity to strengthen business-to-business (B2B) connections and explore new avenues for collaboration. With senior decision-makers from airlines, hospitality, travel technology and tourism organisations expected to participate, the gathering could facilitate conversations around new itineraries, distribution partnerships and inbound tourism products.

The event also puts India’s diverse tourism offerings before a global industry audience. Travel businesses can use the increased international attention to develop partnerships with overseas operators, promote lesser-known destinations and create tailor-made experiences for international visitors. Potential opportunities span heritage tourism, wildlife, wellness, luxury travel, cultural experiences and business events.

According to WTTC’s Economic Impact Research cited in the announcement, India’s travel and tourism sector contributed USD 263.6 billion to the economy in 2025 and supported 46.2 million jobs. The council projects the sector’s economic contribution could reach USD 286.1 billion in 2026, underlining the scale of the market.

The government has also indicated that preparations will involve structured engagement with Indian states and international investors, with the aim of converting discussions into investment commitments. The summit is expected to attract around 5,000 participants, according to Suman Billa, Director General, Ministry of Tourism.

For India’s travel trade, the immediate opportunity is to start building international relationships ahead of 2027. While the summit itself will bring visibility, sustained B2B engagement before and after the event could help convert that attention into partnerships, new business leads and greater international demand for Indian travel experiences.
