WTM London to mark 20th anniversary of Ministers Summit on November 4, bringing together around 50 tourism ministers and global industry leaders to discuss resilience, sustainable investment and a regenerative future for tourism.
The World Travel Market (WTM) London will celebrate two decades of its Ministers’ Summit on Wednesday, November 4, with tourism policymakers and industry representatives gathering to establish shared priorities for the future of international travel. Organised by WTM London, powered by RX, in association with UN Tourism and the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the meeting will take place during WTM London 2026 at ExCeL London.
UK Tourism Minister Stephanie Peacock MP will join representatives from WTM London, UN Tourism and WTTC to open the summit. Over the past 20 years, the platform has brought together government officials and tourism leaders to exchange ideas, address common industry challenges and discuss policies shaping global tourism.
This year’s discussions will centre on ‘Strengthening Tourism for a Resilient and Regenerative Future’, aligning with WTM London 2026’s overarching theme, ‘Resilience, Rebound & Reinvention’. Building on last year’s discussions around inclusive tourism investment, delegates will examine how governments and businesses can strengthen the sector’s ability to withstand future disruptions, encourage sustainable investment and deliver long-term benefits for destinations.
For travel agents, tour operators and destination management companies, the WTM London to mark 20th anniversary of Ministers Summit milestone is significant because the discussions address policy and investment priorities that can influence destination development, tourism infrastructure and future travel opportunities. Greater cooperation between governments and private businesses could help create more resilient tourism markets while supporting local communities and environmental conservation.
The summit will also look beyond policy discussions to include perspectives from young people entering the tourism industry and entrepreneurs whose businesses and livelihoods depend on its long-term sustainability. Their participation is intended to bring fresh perspectives to discussions on inclusive growth, business opportunities and the future of tourism.
Chris Carter-Chapman, Director of WTM London, said the anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on two decades of international tourism leadership while identifying the collective action required to build a stronger, more regenerative sector. He emphasised that closer cooperation between governments and the private sector remains essential as tourism continues to navigate periods of disruption.
The WTM London to mark 20th anniversary of Ministers Summit gathering will run from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on November 4 at ExCeL London ICC, Maritime Suites, George V Room 1. WTM London attendees will also be able to attend the discussion, offering travel industry professionals an opportunity to hear directly from tourism ministers and international leaders.
A lunch for ministers, UN Tourism delegates and members of the Association of National Tourist Offices and Representatives (ANTOR) will follow the summit. Sponsored by ANTOR, the gathering will also celebrate the association’s 75th anniversary.
For the global travel trade, the event offers a platform to understand emerging tourism priorities, follow discussions on sustainable investment and build a clearer picture of the policy direction shaping the industry’s next phase.
